WOW. Very impressive! I like your extensive use of Pow Toons; pictures voice over, and music. One of the Twitter chats that I recently joined talked about community engagement and education. Your project really spoke to that, as I can imagine Avalon being a close-knit community. Is it common that high school graduates stay in Avalon and help to run local businesses? or do they tend to leave the island in search for their own dreams?
Thanks! Many students stay after high school, or go to college and continue to work here during the summer months. It's a tight-knit community, but a lot of people rely on word-of-mouth communication. It's fun to tie in the school to the community whenever possible!
Fantastic Video. The light-bulbs were my favorite. Using your own voice really brought authentic value to your presentation. This looks like you have great support from your community and this project will give your students opportunities even outside your classroom to meet business people and have your school connect with your community on a different level.
I'm a high school math teacher, but I like to say that I teach students how to think. Math , like most subjects, can be learned; being able to critically analyze problems of all sorts is much more important.
